Peace through Adversity. #CrazyLove #CharliesStory

Normal, what is that?

Over the last 24-48 hours my family and I have experienced one of the most challenging and trying things I think any family can go through. The loss of a child. No matter the age, I know it can be absolutely gut wrenching and can tear you apart, can tear families apart. As for my family and I, we are truly leaning on a strength greater than our own!

Wild, right? Some may have a belief that if I say I am Christian, that I will have NO WORRIES, NO STRUGGLES. This is a lie and the Bible does not say this anywhere. When tragedy or things happen in this broken world, we need to have FAITH that He will carry us through. You see this crazy thing called “Free Will” and things outside our control come into play, and can wreak havoc on our lives.

I am so grateful for the places that I plug in, as well as my family. It truly has strengthened as the Spiritual leader of my home and given strength to endure the biggest tragedy I could have ever imagined. This last week at our mens study, we were studying in the book of John.

Sounds like a simple verse, right? Nope, you see in reading this verse we are challenged. We are challenged because, if we never speak with Him, or read His word, how can we tell what is of Him or not? Over the past several years I have personally witnessed and personally experience some incredible things, that I cannot explain by anything other than by His Grace. (or even referencing my dad speaking to God, before he went home)

We truly need to prepare our hearts and be the example for our kids, and I am truly grateful for His presence in my life. Fortunately, I have been able to latch onto a few groups and individuals that have mentored me through my journey, and they mean the world to me! My friend, my Faith Mentor as I call him, Steve Foster is an incredible man! He puts up with me and all my calls, and questions. I can’t even thank him enough for being in my life. He truly embodies The Love of Christ!

Why do I bring all this up? Well, my best friend in the world, is my Bride, Danielle. We truly just had the worst event that could happen to parents, happen. For some this could cause division, fights, separation, you name it! For us, we have been drawn together closer than we have ever been. We have been experiencing and uncanny, undescribable peace that has come over us! We have experienced a Love from so many that has overwhelmed us. It has truly warmed our hearts. Its almost weird, because we seem to be coping better than we could have ever expected. It is my belief, that we are living the “footprints” Prayer.

We had an interesting visit from social worker yesterday. When she walked in, she introduced herself, and all the items she had to offer. She spoke of support groups, and grief counseling, and more. As Danielle and I looked at each other we smiled. Danielle responded, our Faith is strong and our support system has been incredible! We said to her because of this, we think we are good! We explained about our Faith in God. She was blown away, and said “WOW. That’s incredible, most people don’t have that!” Well, I am here if you need me.
You see, our prayers are being answered through the love shown by so many, and we are truly grateful for incredible friends and family. Through this time our family from youngest to oldest has become prayer warriors. Even our youngest at 4 years old is praying thanks and requests to the Father above. It is our hope that they always know where to turn in celebration, or in times of struggle! FYI, I am not saying this is easy, or that we won’t struggle with it, we just feel His presence and LOVE!
Some may say its Brave to stand out and pray, and I say why?  I believe its acting out what we say we believe. Faith without action is dead. Where would be be if when things get tough, that we turn from our beliefs?
From my family to yours THANK YOU for your prayers and for sharing Charlie’s Story. We believe that Charlie was here for a reason, and by sharing and praying, you give her life meaning! As we have chatted to friend and family we have thought about a vision. It is one of the most comforting pictures in my mind is Papa Orr with Jesus, greeting Charlie in Heaven. I picture Papa rocking her to sleep with a huge smile on his face.
So our prayer, #BEBOLD, unafraid, love on your family a little harder. Pray together WITH them and not just for them. Welcome His presence into your life!
PS. We never know when God could be using us to answer another’s prayer. Give heed to His calling. Bless and love on one another!

Charlie rises as our Angel! Prayers to Heaven

The day…

Where to begin? What are the words that can put into action where we are at or what we are feeling?
The decision.. Well after 2-3 years of contemplating should we go for four, can we handle it? Can I handle it? To LETS DO THIS!!! And all the prompting of friends and family, both for and against! I must admit it was quite the process. And yes I succumb to the Woman.. Lol. Yes the woman usually wins.
The excitement of finding out and knowing before my bride that she was indeed pregnant. Yes, my intuition kicked in and I knew before Danielle did or the tests even showed. Instantly we were elated yet, cautious. We knew there can be complications and wanted to wait till we crossed the delicate line of the “First Trimester” before we told anyone, or even the kids. So in true fashion, that is what we did.
Around Valentine’s Day we let our parents and kids know we were Prego and the excitement and anticipation continued to grow.. “Roses are red, Valentine’s are sweet, our family is growing by 2 feet and a heartbeat!” This is how the announcement read, as our parents and kids screamed with excitement. The range on emotions was incredible and we were overwhelmed with the support of our family.
Gender, yep, with all these new tests we were able to find out gender and all the genetic testing by 12 weeks. Insane, right? Yes I said 12 weeks. So in true form, we videoed it as we found out with the kids. Most everyone was set on having a girl, and I wanted a girl, but thought, gotta be a boy! When we opened the envelope we were ecstatic! All the kids yelled and screamed.. It’s a girl, and danced around the room!
From that point forward the name game arose, and I, being stubborn, didn’t want to play. I have lost this battle in the last you see, and all of our kids names changed in the final weeks, or days, or day of birth. I didn’t want to get attached to a name unless it was THE NAME! This time it was different. As the Dr told us the probability of our girl making it, We couldn’t help but name her! We wanted to pray for her specifically!
Prayer works and warriors United!
Wow, within two hours of our Dr visit with possible outcomes, we had 15 people come over and pray over us! Can you say powerful? Wow. The love and support of our family, community and Faith family was tremendous! The notes, texts, calls, support has been overwhelming.

We were asking for a miracle and #PrayersForCharlie, and although the outcome was not what we wanted, I believe we still witnessed to some incredible things. We were

able to draw so much strength from leaning on our Faith, and from all those around us. Not sure we could have done this alone! The last 12 days has been a roller coaster of emotions, and wow…

During this challenging time, our prayer life as family has grown tremendously as a family. I know that our kids have witnessed us in a time of need and challenge lean on Him above! We have prayed relentlessly together for blessings and for our struggles! Our hope is that our kids have experienced His love and grace, and in times of need they will lean on Him too!
During this time, I have experienced more prayer in public places, and workplaces than I have ever experienced. Prayers were online, in person, phone calls, via text or wherever. The topic of God and His love has been paramount! Numerous times over the last week I have broken down, however, late last week I had a realization. I had been asking for a miracle, and I felt like they were already happening all around us. Through people and experiences it’s really kind of hard to explain. “Life is but a vapor,” we are told, and eternity is a long time! I am so grateful for our Lord and Savior, and His presence in our life!
Spirits up. We thought we had a sign that Charlie was doing better after a good Dr appointment yesterday, but it turned out God has a bigger plan for Charlie! This morning at about 2 am our beautiful baby girl was born, tiny as she may be, had the heart of a warrior! We may not know the reasons, and it was not our wish, but the Orr Family has an angel in Heaven. May our father in heaven keep her safe until we meet again. Say hi to papa for us Charlie!
So as I pause in writing this, taking a moment to see the most precious fingers and toes, tears pour down our cheeks, as we mourn the loss of our baby girl, weighing in at a half pound, and 7 inches long. I hold her and pray for her asking God to care for her till we can see each other again. Wow..
As for our balloons raising our prayer requests and the countless prayers said across our country, We know they were not unheard. He must just have bigger plans for her than we know! So our prayer has shifted to, Lord fill our hearts. Give us peace and strength as we learn to understand. May we be steadfast and true and may we draw nearer to you! Thank you for our 3 healthy, amazing kiddos you have entrusted to us, and may we be the example you so desire.

Please pray for us, and help lift our spirits!
In Jesus Name

Lucky…The Silver Lining #FamilyMatters

Through all the madness and through thick and thin I can’t be lucky enough for my, well what most people would say would be their “Out-Laws.” Well, I can’t quite say that. For as long as I can remember, they have been an extension of my “blood” family.

From the years when I first met my amazing bride through present they have seen it all, from the very worst of me, to the best, and everything in between! (and they still stand beside me) I can still recall all the dinners at their house when welcomed me in, as I was out here in CA, with no family here! It was truly awesome.
I am truly lucky, cause not only did I get the girl, but I got the loving, compassionate family with it as well!
Through our situation right now, Allyn, aka Wonder Woman, has been here every step of the way, to selflessly help both Danielle and I with the daily processes of life, and I don’t know what we would do without her! I think the thing I struggle with the most, is sometimes we are just tired, spent, and she just hangs in, and loves us where we are at. No judging or comments, (most of the time) she is so giving of herself.
At the end of the day, she is an incredible example of who I can hope to be when my kids, or family is in need in the future!
Thank you Mimi & Grandpa… You guys are truly “Super Heroes!’ Thank you for making such and incredible impact on my children! I know they will always cherish you! You guys make them a priority, and it shows. You guys make the time and are at all their performances, games, events and so much more! In case you wondered if it was noticed, or appreciated! YES…
I love you guys, and thank you for being you!

My Birthday Wish.. Love and Faith tied up in a bow! #PrayForCharlie Ryan J Orr

Charlie Update:

Birthday wishes are only so fun when you feel like you are walking through a dark valley.

Charlie is the name of our baby girl who is in Danielle’s belly, and we decided for the first time with any of our kids to name her before she is born! The last week or so has been extremely challenging in our house. From spending most of the night in the ER on Friday- Sat, to running from doctor to doctor for continuous updates on her status.

Little did we know when we named her that her name means strength, and that she is “warrior.” That is exactly what we need her to be! She will need to battle through and overcome some adversity and the odds to make it though!

On Sat night most of the amniotic fluid was lost for no apparent reason, and she really needs it to grow and be strong, and to allow her lungs to grow!

The doctors although empathetic and sweet,  have been incredible, but they are also clear that the numbers are not in our favor. Both of our specialists have also told us that they will not rule anything out because they have seen it all! That if we are believers that it may be time to start praying. I thought, we can do that!

On the way home, I  asked Dani, can I ask my guys to come over, and she instantly said yes.. Within 2 hours we had 15 people in my living room praying over us asking our Lord above for a miracle. It was such an incredible show of love. (His greatest gift) We were so moved, and grateful. As we move forward we had an option, clam up, be silent and retreat or plug forward, doing our best to live in obedience with what we say we believe!

This time has been extremely challenging for us all, including the little ones and they do their best to process all that is going on! As we Sat them down on Sunday, for Riley and Bryce, well they lost it, while Graham was the clown keeping us smiling and laughing! We as a family have been praying and sharing, laughing and crying begging our Father above for strength and a miracle.

Monday came and went as a blur and the visit with the specialist was less about what he said and more about what he has been avoiding to say. The Odds… When asked we were given several scenarios of which most are not what we want, but the biggest was, well, “I am not going to say impossible, I have seen it all.” If you “Believe,” now would be a great time to pray! I left there broken, and from moment to moment holding back the tears. I said to Danielle, how can I love someone so much that I have never met, touched, seen.. I know we were both dying a little on the inside, clinging on to, there has got to be a way, or if not, it has to be part of God’s plan. HE is in control.

So as I was looking down the face of my birthday and the BD wishes to come, and the questions, hey where are we gonna go for your Birthday, I could not think of celebrating! All I could think about was our little girl.. I wanted to hear kids playing, and lifting up prayers to Heaven. LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER! I had the most incredible birthday celebration with easily 80-100 people in the park there to play, and send a prayer up to the heavens. WOW… That many people cared to take the time, and to come together to pray. Moms, & Dads, Friends & Family, all came to lift Danielle & Charlie up in prayer. You want to talk about moving… Wow! Danielle wasn’t quite up to coming but thanks to FaceTime, we brought her in on a video feed where I KNOW she felt the love!

We can’t thank you enough for the Phone Calls, Texts, Messages, Notes and more and how they keep us going! Thank you for giving us strength through this outpouring of love!

As for today, well, last night was another restless night, Danielle is on bedrest, we had a Dr appt today, and we did not have much change. We are praying on a miracle, and we know that our God is so much bigger than this. We will not give up, we will not waiver!
